The hustle and bustle of summer is starting to wind down and even though it is sad to see the long, warm days pass I’m ready for the more relaxed pace of autumn. I think we have had plans almost every weekend this summer and if we weren’t out of town we were busy playing outside…and our house got neglected. I didn’t dedicate enough time to organizing and putting things back in their place, because by the time I got the kids to bed I was so tired from the day’s activities the last thing I wanted to do was reorganize the games they jumbled up or sort through the clothes I no longer wanted to keep.
So now that we are getting back into our school and daycare routine, I’m starting an 8 week challenge to declutter my house, and I’m super excited about it! I’ve seen 30 day challenges before, but to me it seems daunting to have a big decluttering task EVERY day for a month. So for each area of the house I’m giving myself a week to go declutter, that way if I have plans one night or am just not in the mood, I can skip some days here and there.
I created a printable that lists each week’s decluttering project and includes a checklist to make sure you don’t forget to look through certain items. Make sure when you are looking through your house you evaluate items and ask yourself if it is adding value to your life. Sometimes it is hard parting with stuff, but in the end it feels so much better clearing the clutter.

This is fabulous! I am going to share this with my “52 Healthy Habits” group…we spoke about de-cluttering a few weeks ago 🙂
