Reading – I just finished the book “Girl On The Train”, which was the first book I’ve read in over a year. I have to admit it was nice sitting in bed reading a book rather than scrolling through social media on my phone. Hopefully I can make it a new habit. TJ read the book as well, so it was fun trying to guess the book’s outcome together. Now we want to go check out the movie that came out last week.
Planning – Halloween costumes. I have to come up with ideas for my two boys and a couple’s costume for TJ and me. I’d like to put together my own costumes instead of going the store bought route, but I’ll have to see what time allows. Now that I’m a mom I realize I totally took for granted the hand sewn costumes my mom made when I was little!
Watching – CNN. My husband is a history teacher and follows the presidential race closely, so I feel like CNN is always on in the background. But I still sneak in my guilty pleasure “Teen Mom” on MTV. I’ve watched the girls since the very beginning, so it’d be hard to give up on it now. I’ve also been recording “This Is Us” on NBC, but haven’t found time to watch it yet. I’ve heard people compare it to Parenthood, so that sounds promising.
Baking – Banana Bread. The fall season always has me craving banana bread. I haven’t actually made any yet but I currently have 3 bananas ripening on the kitchen counter, so hopefully I’ll get a batch in the oven to enjoy this weekend. I’ll share the recipe once I make it!
Drinking – Pumpkin Spice Coffee. Coffeemate came out with their seasonal pumpkin spice creamer, so I’ve been putting a splash in my morning coffee. Mmmmmm, tastes like fall.
Loving – Our recent family photo session. Erin J. Johnson Photography always does such a nice job. It is a little hard getting a one and two year old to smile (or even look at the camera), but it helps to have such a patient photographer. Ahh, I love my blue-eyed babes.
Hating – Laundry. Just like every other mom knows, it’s never ending. We did buy a large capacity washer and dryer set earlier this year, so now I can fit 2-3 times the amount of clothes in one load. But it’s the folding and putting clothes away that can get so backed up. Why has nobody invented a dryer that folds clothes yet?
Anticipating – My soon-to-be-born niece. Ok, confession: she won’t technically be my niece. But when the person who has been your best friend your entire life is having a baby, I’d say you automatically earn the title of “auntie”. Funny story, I found out she was pregnant the exact same moment she did. I called her right after she happened to take a pregnancy test, it wasn’t until 20 minutes later she finally looked at the test. She started screaming into the phone, and then I started screaming. It was pretty cool and something I’ll always remember!
Dreading – Potty Training. Tate has not shown interest in potty training….at all. But as he nears his third birthday he needs to be potty trained to move into the older age group at his daycare. I’m hoping it goes well once we really start trying to work with him, but it feels a little daunting.
Feeling – Sick. Ok, not yet…but as I am writing this I am home from work with Tate who has the flu. I just got him down for a nap and I can’t help but wonder if I’ll be the next one who is down and out. Once the kids are sick I hate the waiting game to see if they pass it on to you.
Celebrating – 7 years of marriage! Next week is our anniversary, we don’t officially have plans yet but I’m hoping we make something work at the last minute.
Listening – Justin Timberlake on Netflix. My sister and I went to a 20/20 Experience concert (amazing), and so it’s awesome to get to relive the concert up close and personal on the new documentary. I’ve been a huge Justin Timberlake fan from way back in the ‘N Sync days, I once even had 5th row seats to a concert….(sigh)….ok, I’ll stop reminiscing the glory days now.
Losing – Motivation to run in the morning. All summer I ran 3 days a week with a few people in neighborhood. We would start just as the sun came up and it was nice getting my run in before the summer sun made it too unbearably hot. But now that the days are shorter when my alarm goes off it is DARK and cold. And my bed is so warm and cozy. Are you understanding the struggle yet? I’ve still been trying to go a couple times a week, but it takes a lot more motivation.
Improving – Our entryway. TJ and I have been working hard making a mud room or “drop zone” in our entryway from the garage. I plan to share the before and after photos on the blog. It’s not quite done, but I can already tell it is going to improve the functionality of the entryway SO much. I’m all about function.
Thanks for [currently] reading, I hope you have a great weekend!
