I hope you had a great 4th of July! I was at my parent’s lake cabin most of the week so I thought it would be fun to share my five favorite vacation moments for this edition of Five on Friday. TGIF!
ONE
Favorite Past Time
Sand castles galore! We lucked out with some great weather at the lake so the boys spent hours digging, building, and stomping on sand castles.
TWO
Favorite Captains
Between the golf cart and boat the boys were in driving heaven. They took turns helping at the wheel all weekend. I guess you could say they are true boys, they love anything with a steering wheel and motor.
THREE
Favorite Quiet Moment
While chasing around a 3 and 1 year old I didn’t get much quiet time, but one evening T.J. took the boys on the golf cart to go throw a bag of garbage at the dumpster. Even though all the dishes sat in the sink ready to be washed I raced out to the swing to watch the sunset. I had about 10 minutes to sit and watch the beautiful sunset before the boys were back from the dump and the chaos of bedtime started; but I’m so happy I took those 10 minutes to myself to sit quietly and reflect.
FOUR
Favorite Brotherly Moment
There is something about the cabin that brings people closer together. Maybe because there is no T.V. or there isn’t the distractions of everyday life; whatever it is, I tried to soak up all the brotherly bonding that took place. The boys pulled out some of the vintage games and spent time laughing and playing together. In this particular picture they were playing a game that has sliders to make marbles fall down in holes. As soon as a marble would fall they would look at each other and say “good night!” and then just belly laugh. It was something so small and silly to be saying “good night” to the marbles, but just seeing them laughing that hard together was music to my ears.
FIVE
Favorite Babysitter
Grandmas make the best babysitters. One night at the lake my mom offered to feed the boys dinner and put them to bed so that T.J. and I could go to the restaurant at the lodge by ourselves. We pretty much jumped at the opportunity. It was awesome to have a night with just the two of us to reconnect and spend time alone. We had a wonderful dinner with a table that overlooked the sunset on the lake. It was a perfect night.
