Favorite Minnesota Destination
We just got back from our family vacation in Grand Maris, MN. I might be biased because I lived there with my husband for 4 years, but Grand Marais is my favorite vacation destination in Minnesota. Such beautiful scenery, such cute little shops, so many outdoor activities, and of course The World’s Best Donuts…which definitely lives up to the name. We had so much fun in Grand Marais with our boys and they could have spent all day throwing rocks in the water.
Favorite Salad Bowl
I follow Little Bits Of on Instagram and she is always posting her delicious looking salads in a pretty bowl. She wrote that she bought a 9″ bowl at World Market and that it works great for salads. I am always trying to carefully maneuver pieces of lettuce around on a plate because the bowls that came with our dish set are too small to fit a decent-sized salad. I don’t live near a World Market so I checked at trusty ‘ol Target and found this 9″ Serving Bowl and I love using it for my salads! It is big enough to easily stir everything around and keep all the pieces of lettuce contained.
When I saw this meme on Facebook I pretty much died laughing. First of all, what isn’t funny about Danny Tanner’s stern face. And second, I can honestly say I’ve been guilty of flashing my husband that exact same look. For some reason dads think it’s a good idea to start WrestleMania 10 minutes before bedtime. Not cool.
Favorite Workout Music
Right now I’m obsessed with a few of Imagine Dragons’ new songs, especially the song “Thunder”. That song, as well as several other Imagine Dragon songs, really pump me up while running and exercising. I created an “Imagine Dragons” Pandora radio station and it is my new favorite workout station. It is nice to find these little things that help keep workouts fun and new.
Favorite Protein Powder
I’m currently training for a half marathon so my weekly runs have really ramped up. After a 9 mile run I find myself feeling extra hungry all day long. I’ve started having a protein shake in the morning and it helps me stay full so much longer. My favorite protein powder is Orgain Organic Protein Powder in the creamy chocolate fudge flavor. I like that it is organic and a plant-based protein so that the ingredients are clean (no hormones, antibiotics or pesticides). And I like the taste of this protein powder and it isn’t too chalky. If I have a little extra time in the morning I throw protein powder, almond milk, spinach, nut butter, and some fruit in a blender. And if I’m running really short on time I just shake up the protein powder with almond milk. I love that if I don’t have time to make myself a full breakfast with eggs I can have this quick protein shake for breakfast and not be starving by 10 am.
