Favorite Dessert Recipe
My parents recently gave me a huge crate of fresh peaches. So many, in fact, that we weren’t able to keep up with eating them when they all ripened at the same time. We happened to be having friends over for dinner just as I was getting overwhelmed with our over-ripening peaches, so I started looking online for a dessert with peaches and found this Peach Cobbler recipe on allrecipes.com. I love finding recipes on allrecipes.com that have a lot of reviews with most of them being 5 stars. When I saw this peach cobbler had over 2,000 good reviews I knew I had a winner. I followed the recipe exactly as it was written and it turned out SO good. I served it warm with a side of ice cream…yum!
Favorite Healthy Tip
I was listening to a Podcast a few weeks ago that was talking about drinking water and how taking little sips throughout the day isn’t going to get you enough water intake. And let me also mention that I am the WORST at drinking water. On this Podcast they recommended taking 20 gulps of water at a time a few times a day, and then whatever other sips you take during the day are just for good measure. This little tip has helped me drink so much more water. And I love that I can get my water drinking out of the way in 30 seconds and not have to feel guilty about not drinking a lot of water at my desk throughout the day. This week I’ve been drinking 20 gulps of water (which is about 15 oz. for me) before I leave for work, at lunch, in the afternoon, and right when I get home from work.
I think I thought this meme from Single Dad’s Laughing was so funny because it totally pertained to my life as I was packing for vacation. I am such an over-packer. As I’m packing clothes I think, “What if it rains? What if we go to a 5 star restaurant? What if the forecast is wrong and it is way hotter than expected?”. And whenever I get home from vacation I always have half a suitcase full of clothes I didn’t wear. My mom is an over-packer too, I think it runs in the genes or something. My uncle does not carry this gene because he told me he can pack for a 3-week trip in a CARRY-ON. My jaw dropped. I don’t know if I could even make it one night with just a carry-on, plus then all my toiletries would have to be under 4 oz. and fit into one quart-size baggie. That quickly turns into a game of tetris trying to squeeze all the bottles in the bag. I think I’ll stick to my over-sized and over-packed suitcase.
Favorite Hair Tool
About a month ago my hair straightener kicked the bucket so I unexpectedly was in the market for a new one. Obviously I hit up Amazon Prime because I needed it fast. I came across this HSI Professional Ceramic Hair Straightener for $40 that had over 28,000 reviews! And 84% of those reviews were either 4 or 5 star reviews. I figured that many people can’t be wrong so I bought it and so far it has been a great. If you ever need a straightener and don’t want to pay over $100 like a lot of them sell for, I’m with the 84% that give this HSI two thumbs up.
A friend and fellow Boy Mom shared this Boy Mom shirt with me, how cute and perfect is it?! I think all Moms of Boys are in the secret club that just understand each other…and trucks, dirt, boundless energy, and sports. This is a shirt I’d proudly wear!
