Welcome to another Five on Friday where I share cool things I find online, products that I recommend, and just general happenings. In honor of my youngest son Carson, who will be TWO tomorrow, I’m sharing the birthday boy’s five favorite things! I hope you enjoy!
ONE
Favorite Mood
Funny, happy, and easy going are the best words to describe Carson. Yes, he has his fussy toddler moments but it is pretty rare for him to be in a bad mood. He likes to laugh and make other people laugh, even before his first birthday we’d catch him making funny faces at us. One time I thought he was having a seizure but then realized he was just shaking his body to show me how excited he was, and he sure laughed hard when he saw how nervous I was. He’s just a happy little guy and pretty much a joy to be around…unless he’s hangry hungry, then don’t mess with him!
TWO
Favorite Sport
Anyone that knows anything about Carson knows that he is obsessed with basketball. My husband is a basketball coach so everyone thinks that we have been brainwashing him into loving the sport, but I swear we haven’t! It started about a year ago when we noticed how much he loved a book about basketball and it has only progressed from there. I know that I’m his mom so obviously I’m biased but he is actually pretty darn good! He can swish shots all over the place on his Fisher Price hoop and we’ve even caught him trying to make it more challenging by standing on top of his little slide while taking shots…and even makes them! The first time I saw it I ran towards him preparing to dive and catch him if he fell, while my husband scrambled to get his phone to record a viral video.
THREE
Favorite Family Activity
This summer Carson discovered mini golf and was instantly hooked. We’ve taken him mini golfing three times now and the fact that it held his attention and focus for as long as it did at his age was somewhat impressive. And he also got a legit hole-in-one! He doesn’t yet follow golf etiquette where he waits his turn to hit, but he takes it very serious when he is hitting his ball. I swear I’m not trying to be a mom bragging about her kid’s basketball and golf skills (well…I mean, that’s pretty much exactly what I’m doing), but he really does seem to be a coordinated kid and has a true love for any sport that involves a ball. It is going to be fun seeing if he continues to be interested in sports or if he will pick up new hobbies along the way.
FOUR
Favorite Past Time
Carson loves anything to do with driving and spends quite a bit of time playing in his little coupe car. He just got the Cozy Coupe gas tank so now he can stop and fill up on gas like mom and dad. But the love of driving doesn’t stop at just the coupe car, pretty much anything with a steering wheel makes Carson’s eyes light up and has him squealing “Me drive!”. We have been to a few parks with school bus and firetruck playground equipment, and he just LOVES pretending to drive. At one of the parks his brother and him were throwing mulch from the little firetruck pretending they were throwing candy in a parade. Don’t you just love toddler imaginations?
FIVE
Favorite Brother
My boys are 21-months apart and there are times that feels REALLY close in age and can cause some challenging times. But now that they are getting older it is so fun to see how close they are getting. But don’t get me wrong, they wrestle, fight, and have sharing issues like so many other kids out there. But I hold tight to all the times they laugh together, spontaneously hold hands, and have little toddler conversations about monsters at the breakfast table. Those brotherly moments make all the other challenging times worth every minute.
That’s a wrap on another Five on Friday, thanks for checking it out and letting me brag about my little man, Carson.
I hope you have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
