Welcome to another Five on Friday where I share cool things I find online, products that I recommend, and just general happenings. I hope you enjoy! TGIF!
ONE
Favorite Beach Activities
Catching minnows and chasing ducks will keep a three-year-old entertained for hours! We had another lake weekend and we soaked up all the beach time we could get. I love the slow pace of being at the lake, where you can spend the day sitting in the sun and building sand castles. The little family of ducks in the photo above made several appearances on our beach and each time Tate would playfully chase them back out to the water.

Favorite Seasoning Recipe
Early this year my family completed a month of No Spending, and during that month we wanted to make tacos but didn’t have a taco seasoning packet. I found this Homemade Taco Seasoning recipe over at The Recipe Critic, and we have never bought store-bought taco seasoning packets since! It’s so tasty and it’s nice eating taco meat knowing exactly what is in it instead of the long list of ingredients I can’t pronounce from the store packet. We’ve started to times the recipe by six and keep it in a mason jar, then just scoop out 1/3 cup for 2 lbs. of meat when we want to make tacos. Very convenient!

Favorite Toddler Pajama Hack
Toddler pajamas are kind of expensive and maybe we were buying the wrong type because we never had good luck with them. They would stretch out funny in the wash, shrink in the dryer, and start to pill after a few times wearing them. When we started potty training I was shopping the boy’s underwear section and saw a 5-pack of white undershirts. I picked up a pack of shirts and found a 5-pack of Hane’s regular boxer shorts (not boxer briefs). For less than $20 I scored 5 pairs of pajamas! And they have held up way better than the regular pajamas we were buying. Plus it is so cute seeing a 3-year-old in a plain white t-shirt and little plaid boxers, he looks like a grown-up man!

Favorite Funny
This meme sums up my life. I love watching the Food Network to get new recipes, but as I’m watching I think “well, cooking in that quiet kitchen with everything already measured out in bowls sure would be easy!”. Even if the boys are nowhere in sight and I try to sneak into the kitchen to cook I swear they can just sense when food might be on the horizon, they come running and want to hang on my legs or beg for food.
FIVE
Favorite Pandora Station
This summer I’ve been listening to the Pandora Station called “Laid Back Beach Music”. You should add it to your playlist if you don’t already have it. If my husband is home to help corral the kids while I’m making supper I often play this station in the kitchen. For me cooking with music bumps up the fun factor and puts me a in a good mood. And sometimes when the kids are in my bed we sneak out to the deck to have a margarita with this laid back beach music playing, talk about a perfect summer evening!
