I am all about quick and easy meals, and if my [picky] 2-year old son loves it….done deal! When he asked for a THIRD helping I knew this recipe was a keeper. I especially love making this meatloaf because I almost always have all the ingredients on hand, and there is hardly any prep!
Gather all the ingredients, I’m guessing you have most of these things already in your fridge and pantry.
Throw everything in a medium size bowl: hamburger, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion powder, minced garlic clove, rubbed sage, ground mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Now take off that wedding ring, roll up those sleeves, and get your hands in there mixing.
Form the meat into a loaf pan, and then use your handy-dandy tiny spatula to slather on the barbecue sauce or ketchup (I’ve done just ketchup, just barbecue, and even a mix of half and half…all options are acceptable and delicious). Oh, and if you don’t have a tiny spatula I highly recommend investing…it’s so cute useful!
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. If the hubby and kiddos are content during the bake time, I suggest washing the one prep bowl and any other dirty dishes you have laying around. Isn’t sitting down to dinner with a clean kitchen the BEST?! I think so, too.
Here is the recipe!
Cook Time | 1 hr |
Servings |
|
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 clove garlic or 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon dry sage
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon dry ground mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup ketchup or barbecue sauce

- Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Peel and finely chop the garlic (or use a garlic press).
- Place the beef into a large bowl. Add the milk, bread crumbs, Wocestershire sauce, onion powder, sage, salt, mustard, pepper and egg to the beef mixture. Mix with a fork or your hands until the ingredients are well mixed.
- Place the beef mixture in an ungreased loaf pan, and spread ketchup over the top.
- Bake uncovered 50 to 60 minutes or until beef in center of loaf is no longer pink. Let stand 5 minutes, so it will be easier to remove from the pan. Cut the loaf into slices.
