This year I wanted to add a little more color to my Christmas tree with berry decorations. I’ve seen trees decorated with berries and I think it looks so natural and rustic. As I was browsing the Christmas ornament aisle I starting picking out red berry decorations that were attached to clips. I started envisioning how it would look on my tree and got excited, but when I saw it was $2 for every clip my excitement quickly faded. For how many I wanted on my tree I knew the price would add up quick. As I stood and examined the berries I realized I could make something similar myself, and for a lot cheaper.
At the nearest Dollar Store I found bunches of red berries that would be perfect for my tree. I had already picked up a pack of barrette clips at a craft store, but I’m guessing you could find something similar at a Dollar Store.
Next I cut all the berry stems so that I was left with just the bunches of berries. Try to leave a little length to the stem so you have room to clip it to your tree branch.
Hold the berry stem along the tree branch you want to attach it to, and simply clip the barrette on the branch to hold it in place.
You might be wondering if the barrette will be really noticeable, but with all the lights, berries, and other ornaments the barrettes do not stand out at all.
I worked my way around my Christmas tree adding berries to various spots, and I love the pop of color and natural look it gives the tree. And most of all I love how easy and inexpensive it was to create!
